How Can Crystal Meth Use Affect a Person?

W. Scott Hanken, Attorney at Law Team

Crystal methamphetamine, more commonly known as crystal meth, is a highly dangerous illegal drug that can cause detrimental effects to a person’s body and mind. Because it’s extremely addictive, even casual use can lead to serious issues, as well as legal problems and incarceration. WebMD explains the devastating impact crystal meth can have on a person’s life.

Meth is associated with a feeling euphoria, even with the initial dose. When the drug is used, a person’s brain is immersed in dopamine, which is a chemical that causes an immense feeling of pleasure. This feeling leads a person to use more and more until their tolerance is built up. When tolerance is high, more of the drug is needed to achieve the same effect. At some point, the person will take the drug just to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

The drug causes a range of physical and mental effects. It causes a sense of anxiety and paranoia, which leads to violent outbursts in some cases. It also disrupts a person’s sleep cycle and mood, and can even lead to hallucinations, which are hard to distinguish from reality. Meth also causes issues with a person’s oral health and skin, with many addicts experiencing sores from repeatedly picking their skin.

Getting help for crystal meth addiction is crucial to prevent even more serious effects, including death, from occurring. Treatment in a rehabilitation center is a must to ensure the person detoxes in a safe and controlled environment. After that, long-term rehabilitation may be required to provide healthy coping mechanisms to deal with daily stress. Continual therapy or meetings can also help a person maintain sobriety for the long-term.

If I could give Scott Hanken 6 stars I would, I called 2 weeks prior to my court date with multiple charges against me, He gave me a great price for his services and got my charges dropped. I would personally recommend him to anyone needing legal services.
